Tradition
continues for modified special events this Saturday
night May 24th at Warrensburgs Central Missouri
Speedway when promoters Earl and Susan Walls welcome
drivers and fans for a special $2,000-to-win race for
the Mighty Modifieds. The rest of
the payout is: $1,500-second, $1,000-third,
$900-fourth, $800-fifth, $700-sixth, $600-seventh,
$500-eighth, $400-ninth, $300-tenth, $200-eleventh,
$100 to start. This weekends
CMS/Kennys Tile racing program also includes
ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and
B-Modifieds. This race is not a track
points night for the modifieds; however, all
other classes will compete for weekly points.
If weather were to be a factor on Saturday, the event
will take place the following night, Sunday, May
25th, at the same applicable times.
Heading
into this weekends race, which according to
track statistician Glyda Jaeger is the thirty-first
modified special ever held at the speedway over the
last ten years, over 260 different drivers have raced
at CMS during the modified specials. The events
are held annually in conjunction with the three main
summer holidays. For drivers who have competed
in at least two races at CMS this year, there is no
entry fee; for drivers who have not competed in at
least two races prior to this weekend there is a $100
entry fee. Past Memorial Day weekend winners
include Dave Meyer, 5-time track champion Richard
Layne, and Dustin Boney, to name a few.
After
last weeks action, 2006 Modified champion Aaron
Marrant sits atop the standings after a convincing
feature-race victory Saturday night. Dustin
Boney, who was runner up to Marrant last week in the
main event, sits in second position just ahead of
Donnie Dannar, Josh Stephens and Dave Meyer.
Jon Binning rides high in the ULMA Late Model
standings ahead of David Angell, Randy Ainsworth,
Jason Bodenhamer and Kevin Coyne. In the Street
Stocks, Warrensburg driver Marc Carter holds the
point ahead of Herb Dannar, defending track champion
Brian Johnson, and Oak Grove drivers Nic Bennett and
John Miller. So far in 2008 Scotty Martin of
Independence is three-for-three in B-Modified feature
wins and he sits in the drivers seat ahead of
Rusty Trimble, Jeremy Lile, Michael King and Owen
Evinger.
