Late Models Headline the Action this Saturday Night, June 21st at
Central Missouri Speedway (CMS)!

A strong field of drivers is expected this Saturday night, June 21st for the annual CMS late model special.  This year the guaranteed race purse is 1st-$800, 2nd-$650, 3rd-$550, 4th-$500, 5th-$450, 6th-$400, 7th-$350, 8th-$300, 9th-$275, 10th-$250, 11th-$225, 12th-$200, 13th-$175, 14th-$150, 15th-$140, 16th-$130, 17th to 24th-$120.  Last weekend, Jason Bodenhamer of Centerview, Missouri, grabbed his track-leading fourth feature race victory of the year by holding off a hard-charging Mike Ryun, who scored his best finish of the year in second.  Several other drivers also registered strong runs in preparation for this weekend’s event including Gary Billings, Jr., Kevin Kaiser, David Barker, and Steven Clancy.  Driver donations will be auctioned off in a silent auction to the highest bidder throughout the night.  Items include but are not limited to autographed sheet metal such as quarter and side panels from the drivers’ cars.  All proceeds from the silent auction will go to the Judy Fohey family.  Judy is the car chief for Shawn Williams, driver of the #14 late model, who will return to CMS to race in the coming weeks.  Judy is a recent cancer and amputee survivor and the drivers are going to do what they can to help out her situation.  Fans in the stands will be able to bid on the items during the evening’s program on the front stretch side of the grandstands.

Jon Binning continues to lead the late model track point’s chase with David Angell, Bodenhamer, Brett Wood and Randy Ainsworth also in the mix.  Several United Late Model Association (ULMA) drivers have shown interest in the race, which counts towards their ULMA championship points-earning season.  Who will show up to challenge for the win?  We’ll find out Saturday night.  With the excitement of the ULMA points-earning method it will be interesting to see who will try and run head-to-head to gain points against Bodenhamer, the overall ULMA leader.  His Team GRT running mates, Jon Binning and Brett Wood also sit near the top of the ULMA standings.  James Rutledge, who owns two feature-race victories himself this year, is expected to be on hand in addition to several other members of ULMA.

In the chase for the weekly track points championship in the Modified class, Aaron Marrant, who scored a fifth-place run last weekend maintains his lead ahead of Donnie Dannar, who scored a season-best second-place run last weekend and Tim Karrick, who is tied with Dannar for second.  Terry Schultz maintains fourth in the standings with Chad Staus holding down fifth.

Herb Dannar continued his string of top five finishes last week and maintains a slim lead over the rest of the Street Stock field.  Nic Bennett currently resides in second position and last week’s feature winner Brian Johnson is close behind in third.  Johnson led the points earlier in the season until several poor finishes dropped him in the standings.  Johnson’s victory last week was his fourth of the year.  Tammy Korff, who earned her first-ever feature win two weeks ago is currently tied for fourth in the rundown with a consistent Roger Stone.

Scotty Martin was only out of victory lane one week before returning last weekend to capture his sixth win of the season.  Martin is the overall point’s leader with a great battle behind him for the rest of the top ten.  Bobby Raybourn and Jeremy Lile are now tied for second position.  Michael King and Rusty Trimble barely cling on to a top five position in the standings after each driver had an off night last weekend.

Action gets underway this Saturday night with pit gates swinging open at 4:30, grandstand admission gates open at 5, hot laps go off at 7 and racing takes to the track at 7:30.  Special admission prices are in affect for this weekend.  General admission is $15, Seniors 65+ and military and students with proper I.D. are $12, Kids age six to twelve are $10, children five and under are free.  All pit passes for this weekend are $30.  Fans and drivers may purchase their advance 2-day admission tickets for the upcoming Tom Wilson Memorial BBQ bowl, which is just around the corner on Friday, July 4th and Saturday, July 5th.  Be sure to check out the information on the Web page in order to save money on admission prices for the weekend and driver entry forms for the modified and street stock special races for that weekend.  You can log on to the track’s official Web site by pointing your browser to www.centralmissourispeedway.net.  For track information and up-to-the-minute race status call the track report line at (660) 747-2166.  The track Web site includes race results, photos from John Lee of High Fly’N Photos, point standings, admission information and more.  See you at the ‘Burg!
